Purpose: The purpose of this event is to encourage students in
NWCSI schools who demonstrate gifts in the visual arts by providing an
opportunity to celebrate and enhance their abilities through
interaction/workshops with practicing artists, an opportunity to
display their work for their peers and adjudication
of their work by
art teachers and practicing artists.

Location: Mount Vernon Christian School
Participants:
100 students from NWCSI schools
Grades 8 - 12
Juried Honors Show Guidelines:
1. Focus on Color
2. 2D or 3D
3. Select a piece that
demonstrates excellence
in technique, impact, and
presentation as
described in the criteria.
4. A student
explanation must accompany the work
Format: - Two
paragraphs
- Typed, double spaced
- White paper
Include: - Artist's name
- Title of piece
- Medium
- School
- Art Instructor's name
Answer the following in 2 paragraphs:
1. Describe the major idea, concept or
artistic problem that lies at the heart
of your work.
2. Describe the most important thing you
learned from this project.
3. If you were to do the piece again what
would you change or do differently
Submissions:
- There will be a separate show and
awards
for 8th grade artists.
- Each student may submit one piece for
the Honors Show.
- Additionally, each student may submit
one additional piece for the Student
Choice Show.
- Teachers may submit additional pieces
representing their school.
- Teachers and other participating artists are
encouraged to display their artwork.
- All artwork should be matted or framed to
facilitate display. The supplied label should
also be attached
- Student artwork is to be delivered to Mount
Vernon by the day before the event.
Lunch/Cost:
Participants are to
supply their own sack lunch. Snacks and beverages will be supplied.
The registration fee is $10 per student. This will be used for workshop
honorariums and snacks and beverages. No refunds will be given for
changes in registration after one week prior to the event.
Workshops:
Students will be able to choose two workshops.
The focus of the workshops is to help students
grow as artists.
